It's also low in sugary drinks and saturated fats. Before you try any potential supplements or foods that control blood sugar, Graham says to check in with your health care professional. Foods that control blood sugar may make your sugars go up or down, which could be dangerous if your physician isn't aware of what you're doing, he says. Plus, many type 2 diabetes supplements are not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. “For all these reasons," Graham stresses, "it is really important to talk to your physician about anything you take.”
